Airport Slum Rehabilitation Project
Airport Authority of India has signed an Operation Management and Development Agreement (OMDA) with Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) to run Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport for 30 years. As MIAL took over, it wanted to develop the whole 802 Hectare land which included 125 Hectare of land which is encroached by the slums.
MIAL signed an agreement with MMRDA on 12/12/2006 for facilitating the rehabilitation of slums on airport land. It also signed a State Support Agreement with State Government on 27/04/2006 for this purpose. These 2 documents are basis for slum rehabilitation.
MIAL signed an agreement with Housing Development & Infrastructure Limited (HDIL) for purpose of approaching SRA to make use of SRA scheme for slum rehabilitation. SRA gave letter of intent for 5 areas to have 25824 residential tenements to be considered for the slum rehabilitation.
Functions of Division
To rehabilitate the slums in Airport area as per the State Support Government Agreement dated 27.4.2006 and agreement of MMRDA with MIAL dated 12.12.2006.
