Gorai-Manori-Uttan Recreation and Tourism Development Zone (RTDZ)

The sanctioned Regional Plan, 1996-2011 for Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) recognized the tourism potential of Manori-Gorai-Uttan area (MGU) and designated it as Recreation and Tourism Development Zone (RTDZ).
 
The Government of Maharashtra subsequently notified MGU area as "RTDZ". The MGU Notified Area (NA) with a total area of 43.13 sq. km. includes 8 villages, of which Manori and Gorai with an area of about 19.52 sq. km. fall under the administrative jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) and Chowk, Dongri, Pali, Tarodi, Morva and Uttan with an area of about 23.61 sq. km. fall under the jurisdiction of Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC).
 
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) was appointed as Special Planning Authority (SPA) by GoM.
 
Thereafter, the Draft Development Plan for the Notified Area was approved by the Authority on September 8, 2011 and published under section 26 of the MR&TP Act, 1966 for inviting suggestions/objections from the public on 15.11.2011, and after following due procedure, the Planning Committee submitted its report to MMRDA on 27.02.2012. The DDP was modified after taking into consideration the recommendations of the Planning Committee and the list of modifications was published for the information of public in two local newspapers - Indian Express & Loksatta on the 28th and 29th of April 2012 respectively. The Draft Development Plan was subsequently submitted to the GoM on 14.05.2012 for approval.
