Authority
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) was established in accordance with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority Act, 1974, on 26th January,1975. Authority is the highest policy making body of MMRDA which supervises and controls all the activities of MMRDA. It consists of 17 members and the Minister for Urban Development, Government of Maharashtra is the Chairman. The other members are Minister for Housing, Minister of State for Urban Development, Mayor of Mumbai, Chairman, Standing Committee, Municipal Corporation of Brihan Mumbai, three councillors of Municipal Corporation of Brihan Mumbai, two members of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, one member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Chief Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra, Municipal Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Brihan Mumbai, Secretary, Urban Development, Secretary, Housing, Managing Director, CIDCO and Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA.
