Department of Urban Development in Government of Maharashtra vide Notification No. TPB‑4321/Pr. Kr. 130/2021/Navi‑11, the has decided to develop an integrated business park (Kharbav Integrated Business Park) in the notified area of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, covering parts of Bhiwandi taluka (villages Kharbav, Malodi, Paye, Payegav, Khardi, Palivali, Firangpada, Gane, Brahmangaon) and parts of Vasai taluka (village Nagle) — altogether 10 villages, an area of approximately 58.52 sq. km — in order to create new employment opportunities. 

Under that notification, the said area has been notified under Section 40(1) of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, as “Kharbav Integrated Business Park Notified Area,” and under Section 40(1)(ka), the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has been appointed as the “Special Planning Authority” (SPA).
