The Maharashtra Right to Public Service Act, 2015

The Maharashtra Right to Public Service Act, 2015 has come into effect from 28.04.2015. And thereby providing notified services to the citizens through various government departments and public authorities under the government in a transparent, expeditious and timely manner. The purpose of this Act is to provide services to citizens in an easy, prompt and timely manner.

The Maharashtra State Right to Service Commission has been established under the above act to monitor, coordinate, control and improve the public services provided by the Government. The Commission consists of a Chief Commissioner and six Commissioners. The headquarters of the Commission is at New Administrative Building, Opposite Mantralaya, Mumbai and the Commissioner's Divisional Offices are located at six Divisional Headquarters.

If any notified service is not provided to any eligible person within the prescribed time limit or is refused without reasonable cause, the person concerned may file first and second appeals to the superior authorities and if he is not satisfied with their decision, he may file an appeal to the Commission. As per the provisions of the said act, the officer who defaults to render service may be fined up to Rs.5000/-. A list of notified services provided by this department is attached herewith.
