Landscaping & Beautification
GOM by G.R. dated 01st Nov 2003 appointed MMRDA as implementing agency for MUMBAI URBAN INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT. Under MUIP, MMRDA has taken up improvement of 17 road corridors (approx 150 kms) in suburbs of Mumbai. MMRDA has also taken up the improvement and beautification works of medians footpaths etc on sponsorship basis. MMRDA being Special Planning Authority for Bandra Kurla Complex several corporate in BKC has taken up the beautification works of all the roads, garden and footpaths in BKC.
The beautification and landscaping carried out is at no cost to MMRDA. The sponsor will plant 10 feet tall palm trees 5m c/c, landscape or provide water fountain and maintain the allotted stretch/area. The sponsors will be maintaining the landscaping of the respective stretches/portions for a period of 5 years at their own cost, against this sponsor will be allowed to display their and authority's name and logo/emblem at 3:1 ratio in the said area. MMRDA does not levy any after charge, neither any other organization levies any charge on the sponsor (No ground rent, No assessment fees, No advt fees, No License fees).
Expression of Interest (EOI) was invited through Public advertisement for landscaping of Eastern Express Highway, Western Express Highway, Andheri-Ghatkopar link Road, J. P Road, LBS Road, Saki Vihar Road, Sion-Dharavi Road, Sahar Road, etc. under MUIP and roads in BKC and work orders were placed with 26 sponsors on 10th February 2006 Most of the sponsors have satisfactorily completed their work and are maintaining them. Of the above mentioned roads, most of the roads are handed over by the Authority to MCGM and Public Work Department (PWD).
Apart from these stretches, MMRDA has also taken up the roads and Gardens in Bandra Kurla Complex area for landscaping purpose on sponsorship basis. Under these works; 5 gardens in "G" Block, 12 small gardens in "E" Block and 2 gardens at the entrance of Bandra Kurla Complex have been allotted to plot owners in Bandra-Kurla Complex for landscaping purpose.
MMRDA has invited EOI by advertisement dated 11/02/2010, for Landscaping and Beautification of certain roads in Mumbai. Accordingly, considering the applications received work order are placed with the sponsors to carry out the work. The work of landscaping and beautification for JVLR stretch has commenced by the concerned sponsors.
MMRDA in 2010 has issued work order for beautification of 45 m road in G text block by creating a 3 m wide and 1 m high mound. Also, work orders for provision of water fountain in RG in BKC are placed with sponsors.
